St. Anton
The Arlberg village with the hard-skiing reputation and the big linked area.
St. Anton is the ski resort at the heart of the Arlberg. The Valluga is the peak everyone looks at, Stuben and Zürs and Lech are on the same pass, and the village has the loudest après-ski on this list. The terrain matches the reputation. Beginners can ski here. They should not book it for the Valluga.

Tell us how long you have. If a SpaceXAI key is configured, Grok writes the plan. Otherwise you get an editor-built outline from the field guide.
Field guide
St. Anton is a ski town that expects you to ski hard and stay out. You can decline the second part. You should respect the first.
When to go
January through March. Snow in the Arlberg is usually a fair bet by mid-January. February fills the bars and the gondolas. March skis long. The Valluga summit is weather-dependent and sometimes limited to guided groups on the far side. Read the day's rule before you ride up.
On the hill
The village lifts throw you onto a big north-facing mountain. Marked runs off the Valluga ridges are serious. The route toward Zürs and Lech is the classic Arlberg day and it has a last-lift problem if you treat it as a casual lap. Rendl, across the valley, is the reset day. Off-piste is why many people come; hire the guide before you leave the piste markers, not after.
Village and passes
The pedestrian street is the resort at night. Stay near it if that is the trip, or up the hill if you want quiet and an early gondola. The Arlberg pass covers St. Anton, Stuben, Zürs, and Lech. Buy it if you want the full area. A local pass is a false economy for a week. Trains stop in the village, which makes this one of the easier Alpine arrivals.
Pack this in your notes
- The Arlberg pass is the week. A local pass leaves Lech on the other side of a toll.
- Ask whether the Valluga far side is guided-only that day.
- The village is loud. Book a room off the main street if you sleep before midnight.
- Rendl is the useful reset, not a lesser mountain.

8/10First chair at St. Anton
Rendl as the quieter side of the valley. One night out, not five, if you still want to ski. Book the week for the snow, and go in January–March. The Arlberg village with the hard-skiing reputation and the big linked area.

10/10St. Anton on a clear morning
A day across the Arlberg toward Lech or Zürs. The lift line is the tax; the run after it is the reason. January–March is the window I would book again.

The Valluga when it is open, and a look before you ski off. A day across the Arlberg toward Lech or Zürs. Book the week for the snow, and go in January–March. The Arlberg village with the hard-skiing reputation and the big linked area.
