A traveler's guide to Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Resort is two theme parks you can see from one sidewalk. That proximity is not a reason to do both before lunch.
Disneyland Resort is the theme park resort in Anaheim, California. Two gates face each other across a short esplanade: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. One park a day is the easy plan. A park hopper is for an evening you still have energy for.
When to go
September through November and March through May are the comfortable window. Summer afternoons are hot, and the week of Christmas is a different crowd. Weekdays outside school holidays are the dates worth paying for.
How to see it
Start at Disneyland Park if the castle and the railroad are the reason you came. Cross to Disney California Adventure for Cars Land at night, the Incredicoaster, and Avengers Campus. The esplanade is a few minutes. The second gate is still its own day if you want the rides rather than a lap.
Tickets and time
Dated tickets and a hotel within walking distance matter more than a package. A one-park ticket matches a one-park day. Add a hopper only after you know you will still be walking at dusk. The app's paid line-skip product is useful on the headliners and optional everywhere else.
If you only remember this
- Anaheim is not a city trip with a park attached. Plan the parks first.
- Cars Land at night is the reason to stay at Disney California Adventure.
- The two gates close on different clocks. Check both before you promise an evening.
- Downtown Disney is the walk between the hotel and the gates, not a third park.
