A traveler's guide to Disney's Hollywood Studios
This is a ride park. Eat early, ride the headliners first, and do not save Galaxy's Edge for a casual wander at 4 p.m.
Disney's Hollywood Studios is the Walt Disney World theme park for Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, and the Tower of Terror. It is in Bay Lake, Florida. The footprint is smaller than it feels once the queues fold back on themselves.
When to go
Orlando's winter and spring. Summer heat sits in the streets of Galaxy's Edge with very little shade. Party nights and new-film weeks push the waits up even when the rest of the resort is calm.
How to see it
Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog are the waits that wreck an unplanned day. Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster are the classic pair on Sunset Boulevard. The shows are how you sit down without leaving. Galaxy's Edge is worth the walk even after the rides, if you go before it is only a gift shop.
Tickets and time
A single-park day is the right shape. Lightning Lane matters more here than at EPCOT because the headliners do not have a second path. Park open to close is a long day; a midday meal reservation is the break.
If you only remember this
- Rise of the Resistance can go down. Have a second ride ready.
- Galaxy's Edge bottles and water are priced like a movie. Bring a bottle.
- The park gets dark and loud. Little kids often do better at Magic Kingdom.
- Hollywood Boulevard photos take ten minutes. Do them on the way out.
