A traveler's guide to Tokyo Disney Resort
Tokyo Disney Resort is two theme parks that do not share a casual hopper. Buy the gate you will actually enter.
Tokyo Disney Resort is the theme park resort in Urayasu, Chiba. Two gates sit on the same bay: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Tickets are per park. A day trip from Tokyo works. A night at the resort works better.
When to go
March, April, October, and November are the dates people try to book. Cherry blossom weeks and Japanese holidays sell out. Summer is hot and humid. Weekdays are the realistic rope drop.
How to see it
Tokyo Disneyland is the castle day: Pooh's Hunny Hunt, Beauty and the Beast, and the nighttime show. Tokyo DisneySea is the harbor day, and it is the gate many people fly for. Journey to the Center of the Earth and the Tower of Terror want the morning. The other park is tomorrow.
Tickets and time
Buy the specific park on the specific date. There is no Florida-style hopper to lean on. The resort monorail and the train from Tokyo are both fine if you are at the gate for open. A resort hotel is for the night you refuse to commute back across the city.
If you only remember this
- One ticket does not cover both gates. Decide before you queue.
- Tokyo DisneySea is not a bonus lap after Tokyo Disneyland.
- The app and the ticket rules are stricter than the Florida habit. Read them.
- Urayasu is close to Tokyo and still a committed day. Do not stack a neighborhood after close.
