A traveler's guide to Universal Kids Resort

This theme park is a half to full day with small children. Go at open, leave after lunch if the group is done, and do not expect Orlando.

Universal Kids Resort is the theme park that opened in Frisco, Texas, on July 1, 2026. Seven lands — Shrek, SpongeBob, Minions, Trolls, Jurassic World, Puss in Boots, and Gabby's Dollhouse — are scaled for children about three to eight. It is not a coaster park, and it is not a smaller Epic Universe.

When to go

North Texas is kindest in spring and fall. Summer afternoons are very hot and a lot of the park is outdoors. Weekday mornings are the design center. Weekends and school holidays are when the small footprint fills up.

How to see it

Start at Isle of Curiosity so the youngest child gets the land they came for before anyone is tired. Then one character land at a time. The rides are mild on purpose. Wet play areas will soak a kid who did not bring a suit. There is no second gate to hop to.

Tickets and time

Tickets are dated and cheaper than a Universal Orlando day. Annual passes exist with blockout dates. The on-site hotel is steps from the gate, which matters more here than a fancy room, because the guests are small and done by midafternoon.

If you only remember this

  • The park is for young children. Older kids may finish it before lunch.
  • Bring a change of clothes. Several lands involve water.
  • Frisco is a suburb of Dallas. The city is a drive, not a monorail.
  • Strollers are the right call even if your child usually walks.
