A traveler's guide to Universal Orlando Resort
Universal Orlando Resort is three theme parks with three different mornings. Epic Universe is not a lap you add after Islands of Adventure.
Universal Orlando Resort is the theme park resort in Orlando, Florida. Three gates are on the property: Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands of Adventure, and Universal Epic Universe, which opened on May 22, 2025. Water parks are a separate ticket. Give each gate its own day.
When to go
January through April and late fall match the weather you want for outdoor queues. Summer storms are daily. Epic Universe, open since May 22, 2025, is still the crowded gate on weekends. Weekdays are the dates that feel like the map.
How to see it
Universal Studios Florida is Diagon Alley and the city sets. Universal's Islands of Adventure is the lagoon: Hagrid's and VelociCoaster want rope drop. Universal Epic Universe is south of those two, with its own hub and four portals, and it needs the day you are not already tired.
Tickets and time
A park-to-park ticket is what lets you ride the Hogwarts Express between Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure. Epic Universe is a separate gate with its own morning. Buy before you fly. Express is worth it on a holiday week and optional on a quiet weekday if you are there at open.
If you only remember this
- Three gates, three days. Epic Universe does not fit in the afternoon.
- The Hogwarts Express needs a park-to-park ticket. A one-park ticket stays in one gate.
- Volcano Bay is a water park. It is not one of the three gates.
- Epic Universe opened on May 22, 2025. Check which hotel actually walks to it.
