A traveler's guide to Universal Studios Florida
Diagon Alley is the heart of this theme park. See it early, ride the bank, and then decide whether the rest of the park is your afternoon.
Universal Studios Florida is the theme park at Universal Orlando built as a stack of city sets and movie lands. Diagon Alley is the one people plan around. It connects to Islands of Adventure by the Hogwarts Express if you hold a park-to-park ticket. Orlando, Florida.
When to go
Orlando's milder months. Summer storms shut outdoor rides for twenty minutes at a time and the heat between them is the real cost. Halloween Horror Nights takes over many evenings in the fall and needs its own ticket.
How to see it
Diagon Alley at rope drop, including the escape from Gringotts. New York and San Francisco hold Mummy and Transformers. The lagoon show is the closer. Minion Land and Springfield are the midday pressure valves. Do not try to walk to Epic Universe. It is a separate gate down the road.
Tickets and time
A park-to-park ticket is what makes the Hogwarts Express and a same-day hop to Islands of Adventure possible. A one-park ticket traps you here, which is fine if Diagon Alley is the whole point. Express Pass after 2 p.m. is often the better buy than the full day.
If you only remember this
- Horror Nights dates close the daytime park early. Read the calendar.
- The Express line is a different product from the Disney Lightning Lane. Check what your hotel already included.
- Eat in Diagon Alley once. The Leaky Cauldron is a meal, not a snack window.
- Volcano Bay is a water park, not this gate.
