A traveler's guide to Universal Studios Singapore

This theme park is a Sentosa day, not a fly-here-only day. Start at open and you can be back in the city for dinner.

Universal Studios Singapore is the theme park on Sentosa, smaller than the Orlando gates and easier to finish. Battlestar Galactica, Transformers, and the Jurassic water ride are the spine. Singapore itself is the rest of the trip.

When to go

Singapore is hot year-round. February to April is the slightly kinder window. Afternoon rain is normal and outdoor coasters stop for lightning. Weekdays are quieter than weekends, which matters in a small park.

How to see it

Ride the two coasters and Transformers first. The rapids will soak you in a climate that does not forgive wet clothes. Madagascar and the shows fill the middle. New York and Hollywood are streets more than lands. You can see the whole gate without a second morning.

Tickets and time

Sentosa passes and park tickets get bundled and unbundled. Buy the park ticket you actually need. Express is less necessary on a weekday morning than it is on a Saturday. The island entry is a separate small charge on some routes.

If you only remember this

  • The Sentosa Express, a cable car, or a taxi all work. Pick one before you are in the sun.
  • Lightning delays are the schedule. Have an indoor ride as the backup.
  • The park is compact. You do not need a two-day ticket.
  • Dinner back in Singapore is better than forcing a second lap.
