Stay on Seven Mile if the beach is the point. The rest of the island is a day trip, not a second base.

When to go

Winter is dry and busy. Summer is hotter, cheaper, and still swimmable. Hurricane months deserve a flexible ticket.

The beach

Seven Mile is one long public beach with hotel access points. The water stays shallow for a long way, which is why families like it. The north end is quieter.

In the water

The west side is the calm side. A boat to the wall is worth it if you are comfortable in deep water. Stingray City is a sandbar visit with a crowd and a handler.

Rental cars drive on the left.
Dinner reservations matter in winter.

Stingray City only if you like organized wildlife. George Town for a walk, not for a beach day. In Cayman Islands the color of the water does more work than any hotel list. Seven Mile Beach, a wall of reef, and a small island that runs on schedule.

A shore dive or snorkel at the reef wall. Best window from where I sat: December–April. I would not trade this coast for a busier island.
