Verbier

The 4 Vallées resort where the famous skiing is off the marked piste.

Verbier is the ski resort above the Val de Bagnes, tied into the 4 Vallées. Mont Fort is the high point. The village has the chalets, the prices, and the off-piste reputation. Marked runs will fill a week. The terrain the resort is known for does not, unless you hire a guide.

A Verbier itinerary

Tell us how long you have. If a SpaceXAI key is configured, Grok writes the plan. Otherwise you get an editor-built outline from the field guide.

Field guide

Verbier rewards people who know what they booked. Ski the pistes happily, or hire a guide and go looking. Do not invent a middle.

When to go

February and March are the weeks. January can be excellent and harsh on the upper mountain. Mont Fort closes in wind often enough that it should not be the only plan for a short trip. Weekends pull people up from the valley; midweek is kinder.

On the hill

The Médran is the way out of the village. From there the 4 Vallées run toward Nendaz, Veysonnaz, and La Tzoumaz. That tour is a real day with a clock. Mont Fort is the postcard and a steep descent; check that the lift is open before you tell the group it is the morning. Off-piste here slides. A guide is the difference between the resort's reputation and a bad decision.

Village and passes

Verbier is a walking village if you stay near the Médran, and a shuttle village if you stay in a chalet on the hill. Parking exists and is not the point. Swiss prices apply to wine, lessons, and taxis. The 4 Vallées pass is the right pass if you want the full map. Book dinners. The village is busier than it looks from the slope.

Pack this in your notes

  • Hire a guide before you ski off the marked runs.
  • Mont Fort in the wind is a closed lift, not a personal failure.
  • Stay near Médran if you want to walk to the lift and to dinner.
  • A 4 Vallées loop needs an earlier turnaround than a local lap.

First chair at Verbier

The Médran lift straight out of the village. A marked-piste day that still feels like a big resort. Book the week for the snow, and go in January–March. The 4 Vallées resort where the famous skiing is off the marked piste.

Verbier on a clear morning

A guided day off the marked runs, if that is why you came. The lift line is the tax; the run after it is the reason. January–March is the window I would book again.
